Each June, the Irvine Fine Arts Center hosts the annual Studio Arts Festival in Heritage Community Park. The juried festival showcases Southern California artists and their original works of art for purchase in ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, painting, photography, printmaking, fiber and glass. The festival also features live music, demonstrations and food including ice cream sundaes served in handmade collectible ceramic bowls.

The annual Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) will be celebrated in Old Town on November 1-3, 2019. This free event will include the traditional candlelight procession on November 2nd starting at 6PM, beginning at the entrance of the Old Town State Historic Park, located at San Diego Avenue and Twiggs Street. The procession will travel down San Diego Avenue to El Campo Santo Cemetery.

Alfonso Castillo Hernandez and his family come from a long line of Puebla potters with more than 250 years of tradition. The family is renowned for its creation of elaborate Arbol de la Vida (Tree of Life) sculptures. Their family’s Trees of Life have been exhibited in Germany, Austria, Spain, and the United States. Alfonso also creates various themed works for Dia de los Muertos including decorated skulls and catrinas.
